Ingredients
-
1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for a healthier option)
-
1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
-
3/4 cup granulated sugar
-
2 cups water
-
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
-
1/4 cup raisins
-
1/4 cup chopped almonds or cashews
-
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder (optional)
-
A pinch of salt
Instructions
-
Prepare the Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan, bring water and sugar to a gentle boil. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder (if using). Set aside.
-
Roast the Flour: In a heavy-bottomed pan, melt the ghee over medium heat. Add the flour and continuously stir, ensuring it roasts evenly without burning. Cook until the mixture turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma (about 8-10 minutes).
-
Combine the Ingredients: Gradually pour the warm sugar syrup into the roasted flour mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
-
Add Nuts and Raisins: Mix in the chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
-
Final Touch: Turn off the heat and let the Parsad cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
-
For a richer taste, substitute water with milk when making the sugar syrup.
-
Adjust the sugar level to taste.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
